Gov Jennifer Granholm said, "Our education system is the jet fuel that propels our economy," as strong emphasis is placed on higher education. The development of a highly skilled workforce is only one way in which public universities serve as an economic renewal. An other way is that public universities fuel the Michigan economy through the research conducted on their campuses.
